Yellowstone Quarter

The Yellowstone National Park Quarter will be the second release of the America the Beautiful Quarter series. Even though it was America’s first national park, Hot Springs came earlier as a federally protected reservation. The reverse of the Yellowstone Quarter features the Old Faithful geyser with bison in the foreground and background. This representation of the park was designed and sculpted by Don Everhart. A portrait of George Washington, common to all quarters of the series, will appear on the obverse.

The Wyoming Quarter for Yellowstone National Park was to be expected to focus on “Old Faithful”. The addition of the buffalo is a nice touch but he seems a little too large in relation to the size of the erupting geyser. The buffalo’s large size diminishes the grandeur of the geyser in comparision
