2005 West Virginia Quarter
The West Virginia State Quarter was released in 2005 as the thirty fifth coin of the 50 State Quarters Program. The obverse of the coin was designed by William Cousins after John Flanagan. The reverse of the coin was designed by John Mercanti. The reverse design features a scene from the New River Gorge National River, which is part of the National Parks System. It depicts the New River Gorge Bridge, which is the world’s largest steel span and second highest bridge in the US.
