The Sarah Polk First Spouse Gold Coin will be the twelfth release of the First Spouse Gold Coin Program. She served as First Lady under the Presidency of James K. Polk, also taking on the duties of his private secretary in the White House. The obverse of the coin features her portrait. The reverse features Sarah Polk in her capacity as her husband’s private secretary. Both sides of the coin were designed by sculpted by Phebe Hemphill.
