2009 Northern Mariana Islands Quarter
The Northern Mariana Islands Quarter is the sixth and final release of the District of Columbia & US Territories Quarters Program. The obverse of the coin was designed by William Cousins after John Flanagan. The reverse of the coin was designed by Richard Masters and sculpted by Phebe Hemphill. The reverse design features a Latte stone, coconut trees, wild plants, native birds, and a sailing vessel.

Balanced, representative of the Marianas, and designed according to their wish to honor their heritage. What’s the beef?The seaweed was a bit of a stretch, but still…
Ratings:This design could have been well done, but no. What is going on with the seaweed along the bottom? Pray for the guys in the boat that they aren’t eaten by that giant bird. This looks like a scene out of a B-movie. On the plus side at least people will know that the Northern Mariana Islands exist even if they think Squidward lives there.
