2001-D North Carolina Quarter
The North Carolina State Quarter was released in 2001 as the twelfth coin of the 50 State Quarters Program. The obverse of the coin was designed by William Cousins after John Flanagan. The reverse of the coin was designed by John Mercanti. The reverse design features the historic first flight of Wilbur and Orville Wright at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina in December 1903.
