The Margaret Taylor First Spouse Gold Coin will be the thirteenth release of the First Spouse Gold Coin Program and the final coin released for 2009.  She served as the First Lady during the Presidency of Zachary Taylor. Prior to his Presidency, she followed her husband during his military career to remote and difficult locations. The obverse of the coin features her portrait and was designed by Phebe Hemphill and sculpted by Charles Vickers. The reverse features Margaret Taylor caring for a wounded soldier and was designed by Mary Beth Zeitz and sculpted by Jim Licaretz.

  1. This is another coin series that is filled by poor uninspired designs. This series is as bad as the States Quarter series in almost every way. The difference is, collector’s tend to avoid these and thus have kept the mintage figures low. This potentially could create good investment vehicles in future years.
