The 2010 Jane Pierce First Spouse Gold Coin will be the fifteenth overall release in the series created to honor the First Spouses of the United States. Jane Pierce served as First Lady during the Presidency of her husband Franklin Pierce. The obverse design of the coin features a portrait of her designed by Donna Weaver and sculpted by Don Everhart. The reverse features a scene of her in the visitor’s gallery of the Old Senate Chamber as designed by Donna Weaver and sculpted by Charles Vickers. She was known to site in the gallery listening to the debates about slavery.
