The James Monroe Presidential Dollar was released in 2008 as the fifth coin of the Presidential Dollar Program. James Monroe was the 5th President of the United States, serving from 1817 to 1825. The obverse of the coin was designed and sculpted by Joseph Menna. The reverse design featuring the Statue of Liberty was designed and sculpted by Don Everhart.
