2002 Indiana Quarter
The Indiana State Quarter was released in 2002 as the nineteenth coin of the 50 State Quarters Program. The obverse of the coin was designed by William Cousins after John Flanagan. The reverse of the coin was designed by Josh Harvey and engraved by Donna Weaver. The reverse design features an outline of Indiana and an Indianapolis Speedway racecar.

I like the circle of stars. The Indy 500 is just one more stereotype about the state, like corn and basketball. I would have loved to see the State Seal of Indiana here. It would have been a perfect fit, a circular shape for a circular coin, and had a more historic impact.
