The Bald Eagle Silver Dollar was released as part of the 2008 American Bald Eagle Recovery and National Emblem Commemorative Coins Program. The obverse of the coin featuring a mature Bald Eagle in flight was designed by Joel Iskowitz and sculpted by Don Everhart. The reverse of the coin featuring a replica of the First Great Seal of the United States was sculpted by Jim Licaretz.

The detail in the flying eagle is great, it just pops off the coin. The reverse looks like a cartoon. Overall, a decent coin.
Ratings:Well, a little different that the Kennedy Half Dollar reverse but doesn’t really “click” artistically. The Eagle in flight somehow doesn’t reach the gradure of the Gobrecht Pattern Dollar but it still works better than the $5.00 Gold piece from this set.
