Is it possible for us collectors to clamor for at least a limited run of the Silver Eagle Proof and uncirculated version for 2009. The mint is running a risk of the first mintage break in this series! We collectors have spent a ton of money on them so far. The mint makes good money on them. What gives here????
Ratings:Beautiful, classic design. It’s too bad the U.S. Mint relies so heavily on St. Gaudens’ designs for other bullion coins, though. How about some originality, as was shown with the Gold Buffalo?
Ratings:A great coin and a great design. The eagle’s wings need to be spread more and the mint mark put on the front. Still, this one is a real winner. Will be popular for years to come.
Ratings:A great coin design. I fear the Mint feels detailed coin designs are an antiquated approach to coin design, but this is not the case. This coin has a contemporary flavor to it!
My only quibble is that the reverse might have been improved a tad with some sunrays above or around the Eagle, perhaps as a field for the stars.
Ratings:One of America’s best coin designs and a great large silver coin. Can’t get enough of them.
Ratings:Question: If so short on blanks for silver coins, why all these other coins have priority over the silver eagle? Are our subscriptions for silver eagles still good, or have they swamped them also? I think the mint has gone the way as the rest of this government( wasn’t it the only profit makeing part of the government until this year?) Thanks…kent
Ratings:Already an American classic, with a worthy design and highly collected by the numismatic community as well as by bullion investor’s. I must add here that the U.S. Mint has done a superb job producing these one ounce .999 fine Silver bullion coins from day one.
Ratings:Wow I’m the first to review this coin! I would have thought people would jump all over this one. This is one of my favorites. Even though the design is not original I think it is outstanding! You can’t mess with perfection. The obverse is emblematic of Liberty. I like how the reverse comes together with the eagle, the shield and the thirteen stars.
Historically, it brings the new and the traditional all together in what we’ve come to expect in a superb American coin. That might not be historical, but I just can’t ding this coin.
Investment-wise… it’s silver… and I like that just like I like gold.
