The Abraham Lincoln Silver Dollar was released in 2009 for the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth. The obverse of the coin is a portrait of Lincoln, which highlights his strength and resolve. The reverse features the closing words of the Gettysburg Address. The obverse was designed by Justin Kunz and sculpted by Don Everhart. It was based on a sculpture of Lincoln by Daniel Chester. The reverse of the coin was designed bad sculpted by Phebe Hemphill.

The most boring coin of 2009, not that it would have been easy to jazz it up a little. Lincoln is just too overexposed, even for a 200th birthday. But still….
Ratings:Love the mole…shows him as a human being with defaults. However we all know that lincoln was a master orator and his ability to rise above himself and think of his fellow country men and there future….was a defining point indeed for the USA, as well as mankind as a whole. Democracy or Slavery that was the question…we know the answer.

As little as I care for Lincoln, this is a fairly well done coin. The greatest American spin master of the 18th century. Glad to see “under God” in the quote - many now argue it was added later. Too many of these will sell to be a very good investment.
