The 2008 Platinum Eagle begins a new six year series of reverse designs representing the core concepts of American democracy as found in the Preamble to the Constitution. The reverse design “To Form a More Perfect Union” shows four faces with hair and clothing weaving together to represent the diversity of the Nation. The reverse was designed by Susan Gamble and engraved by Phebe Hemphill. The obverse of the coin features the Statue of Liberty as designed by John Mercanti.
